The Rise of the Rightwing.

Since 1979, public services have been cut in the UK, by both Conservative and New Labour governments. The last 30 years have seen a relentless ‘slash and burn’ policy with regards to housing, education, medical care and the welfare system. These services are said to be paid for by compulsory taxation of wages at source, and yet with each cut in service, there has never been a similar, or mirroring cut in income tax. On the contrary, the tax bill has actually gone up. Never before, have the working people of Britain paid such a high premium through taxation, and yet received so little from their contributions, in return.
This situation has developed, as rightwing policies have been allowed to take hold of the mainstream consciousness of political parties in the UK. A more or less whole-sale adoption of the rightwing mythos that services provided ‘free at the point of use’, is infact the practice of the state providing ‘something for nothing’. Infact, the systemwide social net of essential services are funded directly, by absolutely everyone who uses them. It is the exercise of national insurance. Modern Europe adds to this, with an exchange of services between varying European countries – a European citizen is able to have medical care anywhere in Europe, etc.
The process is short-circuited by the cutting of services available, so that these services nolonger have the capacity to serve the populace that relies upon them. The populace continues to pay their tax, but receives ever less for their efforts. This creates an uncivilised climate of people having to fight one another, to gain access to the limited services available. The climate of unjust and unfair aggression is created, so that the working classes are forced to fight amongst themselves, and to create scapegoats to blame the situation upon. It is interesting to note, that the government that creates the situation of lack of services, remains blissfully aloof from the chaos it has produced.
The victims of unfair governments tend to look for short-term targets. They fight amongst themselves. The pressure they are forced to live under, is internalised as ‘self-hate’, and turned outward toward one another. After-all, as the government cuts services, it is implicitly conveyed that the situation is the fault of those who will suffer, and never the fault of those who are responsible. This can, and often does lead to racism – which is an extended symptom of internalised ‘self-hate’. Just as the working classes are ever more excluded and marginalised from the services they pay for, those of a differing skin colour, ethnicity, culture or language, serve to personify this alienation – and trigger ‘self-hatred’ in the minds of the oppressed. Even though the working class is made-up of people from all diverse backgrounds. Racism toward one another, allows unjust governments to continue along their paths, unchecked.
Rightwing governments make victims of us all. When we fight amongst ourselves, only the unjust governments benefit. The real problem is the oppressive policies of government itself. Herein lies the seeds of all discontent. When this is not seen clearly, by those who are its victims – situations occur, whereby this false consciousness is gathered and focused, and rightwing and far rightwing political parties are formed. This is an attempt to understand the oppression – but in entirely the wrong direction. It tends to seek understanding, through the enhanced perpetuation of the oppression itself. The members become a full physical and psychological vessel for the transference of ‘self-hatred’ from themselves, toward the minds and bodies of their chosen victims. This is an expression of a domino effect, originating in the alienating and unjust policies of national governments, that spreads downwards and outwards. Quite literally, the victims view one another as the ‘reason’ for the oppression, and never stop to look upward.

It's very easy to write about it, but not as easy to do. Good service essays can teach you how!
